Commission Work

I find it nerve-wrecking to do commission work. I guess I'm just scared that the customer won't like the end product, especially if it's a portrait! But I do on occassion take on commission work.

If you are interested in having a portrait painted, it is important to note that being able to paint someone in person is by far the best option. If that is not an option then good quality photo material approved by the artist is very important. Because light is such a big factor, it is very difficult to paint from snapshots, especially if they are rather uninspiring.

My ideal size for a portrait is a 30x40cm canvas if it's a head and shoulders portrait. If it is more than one portrait per canvas, then we'd definitely go for something bigger. A full body portrait would also be bigger and cost more, so bear that in mind!
